[UPDATE] New Resident Evil film out by September 2010

UPDATE:
Actress Milla Jovovich has divulged that filming for the fourth Resident Evil movie will commence at the end of 2009.

Film enthusiasts Shocktillyoudrop.com have got wind that Sony Pictures is aiming to have Resident Evil: Afterlife in theatres on September 17, 2010, citing info obtained via a ‘studio insider.’
Some of you may recall director Paul W. S. Anderson mentioning late last year that he was in the process of working on a script for the long rumored zombie sequel, which will supposedly be set in Alaska and Tokyo. Anderson also divulged that Capcom was getting involved with the project.
Little else is known on the film, including whether or not Milla Jovovich intends on reprising her role as virus-enhanced zombie slayer Alice. Given the conclusion of RE: Extinction, though, we reckon there’s a high probability.

Not all that bothered, but will probably go see it or more likely get it on DVD.
Like some other people said I'm more interested in the Silent Hill 2 movie, though it will probably be a terrible adaptation that will annoy me and give me no entertainment.
But hey, if I didn't do stuff like that I'd have stopped gaming about 2 years ago :p

The problem is that they NEVER (NEVER) make movies for fans. They are always written by people that saw 2 screenshots of the games and adapted to suit the taste of the general public.

I don't really care about that movie since all previous 3 were an insult to the resident evil franchise the story have absolutely nothing to do with resident evil what so ever have played all the games and read all the books believe me it has nothing to do with the crappy adaptation of the films . It's not because you take some base info in the game like the virus name and name of the compagnie who made it and put some zombie in it , that it's a resisdent evil.

The movies aren't great, they're enjoyable enough to watch if you want mindless action film. I queation the need to do another one but the previous ones have done well at the box office, thats aso film studios look at these days, not the quality of the film.

Mila Jovavich is a awful actress and even worse plays the heroin-e in a movie that should most likely have a male lead. Named Chris Redfield or Leon Kennedy. I absolutely hate movies with butch rambo-chick women. Women kicking @$s is as believable as 3 Ninjas or Ninja Kids. It's ok though the other movies ruined any possibility of a good film being made. Every single RE movie should be a direct to video or SciFi Channel release along with the other garbage.

I love the movies. Cant wait for this. @4 your opinion isn't a fact and if you really fell asleep from boredom on the games you probably like garbage games like for 5 year.

Oh no. That's unfortunate as these movies have never been good, except for the first one. Please just reboot the whole thing and start afresh with characters from the actual game and not made up. I hated how the whole movies focused on Alice, and how the main characters of the game were reduced to nothing such as Jill and Clair...rubbish. To top it off, they turned it into an action flick. The CGI movie, even though not that good, was still loads better than these films.
I agree with first poster though, release a new Silent Hill movie, loads better RE movie and they were true to the source material than Paul Anderson.

the1st one was good, two went down hill but is funny though that the show that movie a cazillion times on the oxygen network...lol i guess something about having a female superhero empowers women...jus saying 0_o...and the third was jus a giant ball of poo and mix ups, I mean three movies to get to finally show the first games final boss? Cmon...I for one will not watch this next one...if is like the first...na not even. They should jus leave it a three and jus make a short 15 min movie about how umbrella jus nukes the entire world and sterilizes the entire planet...end of story....blah.

Please just let the movies die. As a fan of Resident Evil, I thought the thrid move was just another zombie movie, which happens to have name Residen Evil, but nothing to do with the games.
Why not make MGS movie instead? Now that would be great. However, if Anderson makes it, it would no doubt be a bag of poo just like every movie that he made recently.

@35 NO! Last thing anybody wants is for a crappy live action interpretation of MGS to taint that legendary series' name! NO! We all now that Games about Movies SUCK! Then why would Movies about Games not suck...is just the way it is...and @41 Resident Evil 5 was more than a decent game, it was a great one.

Little may be known about the movie PLOT, mut, at least imo, MUCH is already known...in particular the fact that this will suck just as much taint as the other 3 films. Seriously they had NOTHING to do with the Revil series other than a few names and the fact that zombies were involved. Why they fired George Romero is beyond me. Doesnt make sense that "Hey...we're making a zombie game based heavily on the Romero movies" was followed by "yeah we have Romero working on the movie but lets fire him and make the movie suck futuristic balls instead".
